How LOHV-FL chooses to endorse a candidate (click to see/hide the endorsement process)
We approach legislators and ask them to support us on specific issues that benefit animals. In exchange, we let them know that we shall support their re-election by all legal means,
such as by endorsing them and asking our members to support them. That is our commitment to them. Keeping this commitment puts us in a reasonable position to ask the same
legislators to support us on other issues in the future. By this technique we and the animals gain a friend over time.
We do not expect that these people will support us on every issue, nor do we expect they will have always voted our way in the past. We expect that this will be an ongoing process; a development of that legislator's understanding of animal issues and commitment to animal welfare.
We are committed to working, issue by issue, for real change. This means that we have to work with people with whom we do not entirely agree. That is the political process, and we intend to make it work for the benefit of animals even if doing so makes for strange bedfellows at times.
Each person below has supported LOHV-FL in one of our initiatives, has specifically demonstrated a love for and support of animals, or has personally indicated to one of our Board members this type of commitment. As human beings, they have not always been perfect, but it is the belief of LOHV-FL that they have and will continue to support animals.
If you have any information regarding these people that might cause concern, questions about them, or other people that LOHV-FL should support, please use the form below to send us a message. This message will go directly to all of our Board members so that they can make the best decisions regarding endorsements.
Thank you for your continued support of LOHV-FL.
